Choosing the company that will care for your residents inside your building is a bigger decision than choosing a vendor. These are the questions we would ask if we were in your seat.
- Who employs the caregivers, and are any of them subcontracted?
- Who supervises them, and is that person in my building or at an office somewhere else?
- How will I know a scheduled visit happened?
- What happens when a caregiver calls off?
- What insurance do you carry, and will you name my community as additional insured?
- How do residents pay, and what happens when a resident falls behind?
- How do you handle a change in a resident's condition?
- How will you introduce yourselves to residents and families?
- If you are replacing another provider, what happens to its caregivers and its clients?
- How do either of us end the arrangement, and with how much notice?
What good answers sound like
Good answers are specific. A provider should be able to name the supervisor, show you a sample visit record, hand you a certificate of insurance and walk you through a written start-up plan. If the answers are general, ask for the document behind them.
We are glad to answer all ten for your community. Our transition plan is published on this site.
